Welcome to The Crescent Circle

Hello Reader,

Welcome (or welcome back) to The Crescent Circle!

I'm excited to relaunch our newsletter with a renewed purpose to build a community that educates, inspires and mobilizes people around sickle cell disease and the work of Crescent Kids.

Whether you're a parent, caregiver, healthcare professional, volunteer, donor or supporter, thank you for being part of this journey. Every story you read, every resource you share and every action you take helps us move closer to a world where every child living with sickle cell has the opportunity to thrive.

Health Spotlight

Five Things You Should Know About Sickle Cell Disease.

Sickle cell disease affects millions of people around the world, yet many misconceptions still exist. Here are five important facts:

  1. Sickle cell disease is inherited- it is not contagious.
  2. Early diagnosis and regular medical care can greatly improve quality of life.
  3. Staying hydrated, preventing infections and attending routine clinic visits are essential parts of managing the condition.
  4. Pain crises can vary from person to person and require prompt, appropriate care.
  5. With the right support, children living with sickle cell can learn, play, dream and thrive.

Knowledge helps replace stigma with understanding.

Stories from the Circle

Every child has a story. Every caregiver has a journey.

Over the coming months, we'll be sharing real stories from families, healthcare professionals, volunteers and supporters whose lives have been touched by sickle cell disease.

Perhaps one day, we'll share yours too.
